Bull Run TCG

How do I see which of my cards fit a deck?

In Bull Run, create a deck for Magic, Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh and tap Add from collection: the app lists only the cards you own that are not already in another deck and that fit the deck's format and, for Magic, its colours. A Deck stats panel then checks size, legality and balance, so you can plan a deck before pulling a single card.

Start with the format

A format decides which cards are allowed. In Magic, Standard only allows recent sets while formats like Modern, Legacy or Commander allow older cards. Pokémon has Standard, Expanded and Unlimited. Yu-Gi-Oh has a banlist that limits how many copies of some cards you can play. Picking the format first saves you from building around a card you cannot use.

In Magic, colours matter too: a deck that plays only red and green cannot cast a blue card, so cards outside your colours are out.

Check the shape of the deck

Each game has its own balance to watch:

  • Magic: a spread of cheap and expensive spells (the mana curve) and enough lands that make the right colours.
  • Pokémon: 60 cards, a mix of Pokémon, Trainers and Energy, and every stage of an evolution line, so a Stage 2 is never stuck in your hand.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh: a main deck of 40 to 60 cards, up to 15 in the extra deck, and a sensible mix of monsters, spells and traps.

Plan on paper, then build

A deck list you can change freely is the cheapest way to try ideas. Only pull the cards out of binders once the list looks right, and keep track of where they went so you can put them back.

How Bull Run does it

  1. Open the Collection tab, then Decks, and tap +. Give the deck a name, pick the game (Magic, Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh) and a format, or No format / casual. Magic decks can also take colours.
  2. Open the deck and tap Add from collection. The list shows how many of your copies are not in any deck and fit its format and colours, grouped to help you pick: Magic by Creatures, Instants & Sorceries, Lands and so on (most played first); Pokémon with complete evolution lines marked "You own every stage", then Pokémon, Trainers and Energy; Yu-Gi-Oh by archetypes you own two or more of, then Monsters, Spells and Traps.
  3. Search by name or rules text, or tap Filter: mana value, colour, type and keywords for Magic; stage, energy type, HP and attack damage for Pokémon; kind, level, ATK and attribute for Yu-Gi-Oh.
  4. Tick cards, or Select all in a group, then tap Add N to deck. Undo puts them back.
  5. Open Deck stats on the deck's page to see deck size, any cards outside the format, and game checks such as the mana curve and off-colour cards, energy needed and missing pre-evolutions, or the main deck, extra deck and banlist.

You can also add cards by selecting them in your collection list and choosing Deck, or from a card page's three-dot menu with Add to Deck. Decks are plain lists until you turn on I built this deck; then the deck becomes a storage place and its cards move there (see storage places). Cards the app has no game details for yet sit in a "Not analysed" group instead of being left out.

Which plan includes it?

Free: the deck builder is fully included, with Add from collection and Deck stats. Pro and Premium: the same deck builder; they add more daily use of the AI assistant, which can also answer questions about what a card does.

Paid plans are not on sale yet. Any free account can try Pro free for 14 days, with no card needed, and it drops back to Free by itself.

More questions

Which games can I build decks for?

Magic, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh. A Pokémon deck accepts both English and Japanese copies, though Japanese copies are not checked against English formats.

Can the same card be in two decks?

Each copy you own sits in one deck at a time, so Add from collection only lists copies that are not in a deck yet. If you own two copies, each can go in a different deck.

Does it suggest cards I don't own?

No. Add from collection works only with cards already in your collection. It helps you see what you can build with what you have.

Does deleting a deck delete the cards?

No. Deleting a deck keeps every card in your collection.
