Bull Run TCG

How do I import my collection from Collectr, CollX or TCGplayer?

Export your collection from the app you use now as a CSV file, then load that file into the new app, which reads the card name, set, number, printing, condition, quantity and price paid from its columns. Cards that cannot be matched with confidence should be checked by hand rather than guessed. In Bull Run you tap Import Collection, pick the CSV, and review anything that did not match.

Get a CSV export first

Most collection apps can save your cards as a CSV, a simple spreadsheet file. Look for an export or download option in the app's collection or settings screens and save the file to your phone. Some apps only offer export on a paid plan. You can also build your own spreadsheet with one row per card.

What a good file contains

  • Card name and set: needed to find the card at all.
  • Card number: tells apart cards with the same name in one set.
  • Printing or finish: Holo, Reverse Holo, Foil, 1st Edition and so on. This often changes the value the most.
  • Condition and quantity.
  • Price paid and date: these keep your profit and loss history.

Expect a few cards to need a check

Different apps name sets and printings differently, so some rows will not match on the first try. It is better to confirm those by hand than to let the app guess, because a wrong printing means a wrong price. Spot-check a few expensive cards after any import.

How Bull Run does it

  1. Open Profile (tap your avatar at the top left of Home) and tap Import Collection. You can also tap the + button in Collection and choose Import from CSV.
  2. Tap Select CSV File and pick your export. Files from Collectr, CollX, TCGplayer and ManaBox are recognised, and so is your own spreadsheet.
  3. Columns are mapped automatically. If one is unclear, choose what it is from the This column is... list, or skip it. Card Name and Set are required.
  4. Check the summary (cards found, columns mapped) and tap Import All. You can switch to another app while it runs; it picks up when you come back.
  5. Cards that did not match show an amber triangle at the top right of Collection. Tap it to open Review Unmatched, where you pick from the likely cards or tap Find Match.

If there is no condition column, cards come in as Lightly Played, and you can change each one later. Importing the exact same file twice adds nothing new.

No CSV from Collectr? Tap Use Collectr screenshots instead and pick screenshots of your Collectr collection grid. This works for Collectr only. Purchase price and date do not come across, so profit and loss starts at zero, and screenshots should overlap because cut-off rows are skipped. Condition and finish do come across.

Which plan includes it?

Free: importing from CSV and from Collectr screenshots is included.

Pro: the same import features as Free.

Premium: adds Export Collection, to save your collection back out as a CSV.

Import collectionOpens in the Bull Run TCG app. No app yet? You will be taken to the install page.

More questions

Which file types can I import?

CSV files only. If your app saves a spreadsheet in another format, save it as CSV first.

What happens to cards that don't match?

They are saved, not thrown away, and wait in Review Unmatched until you pick the right card.

Will my purchase prices come across?

Yes, if your file has a price paid or cost column. Collectr screenshot imports have no prices, so those cards start at today's value.

Do my Collectr portfolios carry over?

Yes. Collections named in your file become storage places, so each card goes in the place named after its collection.
