Bull Run TCG

Can I scan a whole binder page at once?

Yes. Some card scanners can read a full 9-pocket binder page from one photo and pick out each card in its pocket. In Bull Run, switch the scanner to Page mode, fit the whole page in the frame, tap the shutter, then turn the page and tap again. Each page becomes one row you can open to check its nine pockets, and the cards can be saved into the matching pockets of a binder in the app.

When does page scanning make sense?

If your cards already live in 9-pocket binder pages, taking them out one by one is slow and risks dinging corners. Photographing whole pages lets you log a binder in minutes and keeps every card where it already is. Scanning one card at a time is still a better fit when you need to check each card closely, such as a valuable foil.

Tips for a good page photo

  • Lay the binder flat and get the whole page, all nine pockets, inside the frame.
  • Avoid glare. Shiny sleeves reflect lamps, so tilt the binder or move the light until the pockets look clear.
  • Scan pages in order, one after another, without skipping around.
  • Empty pockets are fine. Note that a card on the page behind can show through an empty sleeve.

What about the exact printing?

A page photo is small for each card, so telling foil from plain is harder than with a close-up. Expect to confirm the printing on cards that come in more than one version. You might rescan a single valuable card on its own for a closer look.

How Bull Run does it

  1. Open the Scan tab and set the switch under the Scan and Photos buttons to Page (in the camera, the mode chip at the top goes Quality, Fast, then Page with a grid icon).
  2. The camera shows a page outline split 3x3. There is no auto-capture: fit the page and tap the shutter. The frame flashes green when the photo is taken.
  3. Turn the page and tap again. The chip at the bottom left counts pages, and each photo is read in a few seconds while you keep going. Undo takes back the last page.
  4. In the list, each page has its own row, like "Page 3 · 7 cards · 2 empty", with a small 3x3 picture of its pockets. Tap a row to see its nine cards; swipe to move between pages.
  5. Tap a card to check its match or pick a different card, and use the small − / + in a card's corner to take it out or put it back. "Retake this page" replaces a bad photo.
  6. Turn on Store in a place and pick a 9-pocket binder, then tap Add. Each card goes into the pocket it was photographed in.

Empty pockets and card backs are skipped. A card seen through an empty sleeve is set aside on its own, and the page row says how many were "seen through". If the same page was photographed twice, the second copy is set aside too. If the pages would land on pockets that already hold cards, the app stops before adding anything and asks what you would like to do. Page mode identifies cards like Fast mode, so printings show a "?" for you to check.

Which plan includes it?

A binder page counts as one Quality scan, whatever is in its pockets. Quality scans and binder pages share one daily allowance.

Free: 5 Quality scans or binder pages a day to try it out.

Pro: bulk scanning with more binder pages each day.

Premium: the most binder pages and Quality scans per day.

Allowances reset every day at 3 am Mountain time; Profile, Today's usage shows how many you have used. Any free account can try Pro free for 14 days.

More questions

How many cards can I scan in one photo?

One standard 9-pocket binder page per photo. Each page counts as one scan from your daily allowance, however many cards it holds.

What happens with empty pockets?

Empty pockets and card backs are skipped. If a card from the page behind shows through an empty sleeve, the app sets it aside so it is not counted twice.

Will the cards end up in the right pockets in the app?

Yes, if you turn on Store in a place and pick a 9-pocket binder. Each card goes in the pocket it was photographed in, and empty pockets stay empty.

What if I took a bad photo of a page?

Open the page and tap Retake this page, which keeps its page number. You can also swipe a page's row to delete it, or use Remove this page.
